Green Issues
As part of our ethical approach to business, Arkadia Limited is committed to doing what it can to reduce its impact on the environment. Some examples of how we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint are given below: | Staff are recruited locally where possible. Both Roger and his assistant Janet live locally to our offices and are able to walk to work. |
 | Though it may not yet look like it if you visit our offices, in an industry dominated by paper we are doing our best to go paperless. Use of paper is, as yet, unavoidable in our business, but the introduction of new document management technology in mid-2010 means that now, where ever possible, documents are created or scanned and stored wholly electronically rather than as paper copies. We are also working towards transfering all our archiving to electronic media, releasing the paper for recyclling. Our electronic document management system is more secure than traditional archiving (allowing on- and off-site secure backup) and still meets the legal record keeping requirements of our profession. We are also able to provide a complete service electronically, using primarily e-mail instead of traditional post for those clients who are happy to work like this. |
 | Where practical we source office supplies from ecologically responsible suppliers. The paper and other office products we use is made from recycled or sustainable resources. All our scrap paper and paper waste in our office is recycled using Local Authority schemes (needless to say all documents containing client details or confidential information are shredded first). Even our electricity supply is on an eco-tarif. |
 | Our Website is hosted by 1&1 Internet, who on 1 December 2007, started to supply all European data centres and most office locations with electrical power from renewable resources such as wind, water, or solar energy. 1&1's past and present electrical power provider Stadtwerke Karlsruhe will supply both its own 'green' power and will buy additional energy from other suppliers within the Renewable Energy Certificate System, RECS. 1&1's involvement helps to save about 30,000 tons of CO2. |
